On August 7th, Australian Children's author, Dave Currall, visited our school to talk to the Year 3-5 classes. On August 15th, he returned to spend a day with the Year 6-7 classes.

During his visits, Dave addressed both groups at an assembly where he read some of his writing and talked about his life and work as a writer.

His unique sense of humour and easy flowing delivery were an instant success with the children.

In his classroom visits, Dave talked more about the process of writing and provided many excellent suggestions to help children improve their  own story writing. He was particularly helpful in getting the children to develop the characters they use in their stories.

The children certainly enjoyed his presentation and seemed very keen to try out their new skills in their next piece of writing.

Two of Dave Currall's books, "As If !" and "Yeah Right !" are found in our school library. While he was here, Dave autographed both books.

These novels are collections of short stories written by Dave. In them, he mixes his excellent story telling skills with a bizarre (As if !) or even twisted (Yeah, right !) sense of humour.
