Our Student Representative Council is known as Kookaburra Council. A
student, elected from each class, attends Kookaburra Council
meetings each fortnight under the guidance of staff members, Mrs.
Jacqui Brettig and Mr. Brian Marshall. Students discuss issues
raised at class meetings and make recommendations for consideration
by staff and School Council.

In
addition to being a forum for student ideas, Kookaburra
Council also organizes fun activities for students,
including regular student discos and the very popular Casual
Days. This year several charities will be supported by the
activities of Kookaburra Council. |
Hundreds
of dollars have been donated to the following organizations.
The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation
The Anti-Cancer Foundation
The Salvation Army.
One of the biggest
projects accomplished this year was the mural painted on the
breezeway wall between the Hall and Unit 1.

"
Earlier in the year, I was elected as Chairperson of
Kookaburra Council. My job is to run the meetings with help
from the Secretary and Treasurer. I also help run discos and
other fundraisers with help from others. We had a very
successful year."
Alexa Borak

"I am
the Secretary of Kookaburra Council. This job requires attending
all the meetings, taking minutes, writing them up and
distributing them to all the classes. I really enjoyed being
part of this team."

"I was elected earlier this year to be
Treasurer of Kookaburra Council. My job was to attend every
meeting on time and give the Treasurer's report about our
finances. I've gained a lot of confidence from having this
responsibility.."
Heidi Warnes (Treasurer) |
|
" I
enjoyed being involved with Kookaburra Council. The class
representatives gain a lot of confidence from being involved,
sharing ideas between meetings and classes and voting on issues.
I enjoy encouraging their participation and development of
responsibility".

"Once
again our Student Representative Council has worked well to give
students a strong voice in our school.
Our Year 7s have led the way for our younger Kookaburra
Council reps by their active participation in discussions and
willingness to be involved in projects. Through this
participation, we have successfully made many improvements to
school procedures and facilities.
