Year 7 flautists, Megan and Kylie perform a duet.

Some of our younger students displayed their musical skills on keyboard.

Each year Happy Valley School presents Music Nights in both Term 2 and Term 3.  This year the evenings were held on Monday 19th June (Term 2) and Monday 14th August (Term 3).  These are very special and popular nights when all students learning a musical instrument have the opportunity to perform in front of a large and appreciative audience.

Happy Valley School offers a huge range of opportunities for students to learn to play an instrument.  Students can enrol for lessons in almost any instrument. As students become more proficient at their instruments, there are many opportunities to perform – at assemblies, at music evenings and in the school band.

During 2000, students are receiving tuition in violin, guitar, drums, flute, saxophone and recorder.  Instruction is provided by either DETE (Department of Education Training and Employment) staff or private instructors.

This year the school established a Junior Choir (pictured above) which is trained and conducted by Junior Primary Principal, Di Neill.
Music Nights also provide an excellent opportunity for the Senior School Choir (pictured below) to prepare for its part in the State Primary Schools Festival of Music at the Festival Theatre later in the year. The Senior Choir is trained by staff member, Barb Williams.

One of the highlights of this year's concerts was the appearance (at considerable price !  Yeah ! Right !) of ‘Mr Marshall’ and the Parent Band who delighted the audience with their brand of music (pictured at right).

Another very much appreciated highlight, which certainly brought great relief to all present, was that this year, Mr MacLean, declined the opportunity to "play" his bagpipes !
