There were many exciting events during Book Week 2001. Congratulations and thankyou to our two school librarians for organising the week. A Children's Literature Information Evening was also held during Book Week. Both of our librarians spoke at this information evening organized by the Education Committee.

Book Week is always a busy time at Happy Valley Schools. The year 2001 was certainly no exception. This year's theme was A Book Odyssey.

During the two weeks leading up to Book Week, the school was alive with activity as staff and students prepared for this very special occasion.

One of the highlights of the week was a Hat Parade held in the School Hall on Tuesday 28th August. The parade was inspired by the short-listed picture book, "The Singing Hat" by Tohby Riddle.

Everyone dressed up; most with decorated hats, some with masks and costumes. The School Hall was a mass of colour and decoration as each class paraded

A Sydney Harbour Bridge model competition, inspired by the information book, Building the Sydney Harbour Bridge" was another well supported event. Students used their Technology skills to design their models of the bridge. The completed models formed an impressive display in the Resource Centre during Book Week.

In addition to the display of bridges, the Resource Centre also featured some fabulous Junior Primary story maps which were viewed by students, staff, parents and school visitors who visited the Resource Centre during Book Week.
