Come Out Week is an Arts Festival, held every two years, in which children throughout South Australian schools are encouraged to participate in a wide range of activities during Term 1.  Schools can either take part in individual programmes or come together with other schools to participate in parades, displays and other shared activities.  This year's theme was "Escape to Reality."

During Come Out week all classes had the opportunity to ‘Escape to Reality’ in the Reserve next to the school.  On Wednesday, the Reality trail was created in the Reserve, with a beckoning pathway, lined with old shoes – old shoes to symbolise the stepping into reality that classes were going to do!

Most classes contributed to the trail of artwork displayed among the trees.  There was also a dance group of Year 7 girls performing at the lookout, Year 5 robots in orange and white garb dotted along the trail, with several recorder pieces played by a wandering minstrel.

As classes arrived, they were met by Year 6 guides dressed in their ‘unreal’ costumes, who then gave guided tours of the trail with commentary!  Before entering, each person donned their art work costume – kinaesthetic art – which they could study on each other, as they stepped out along the trail.

It was a really memorable arts experience, that celebrated Come Out in the beautiful surroundings of the Reserve.  Students were a bit let down, coming back to the ‘unreality’ of their classrooms.
