Happy Valley School has developed a strong commitment to the Performing Arts.      Music Nights are just one way that the school offers students the opportunity to display their skills and talents in front of a large and appreciative audience.

On Monday 2nd July, Happy Valley School conducted its first Music Night for 2001. These evenings have become an integral part of the school's Music programme and a permanent fixture on the school's busy calendar.

Happy Valley School offers a huge range of opportunities for students to learn to play a musical instrument.  Students can enrol for lessons in almost any instrument. As students become more proficient at their instruments, there are many opportunities to perform – at assemblies, at music evenings and in the school band.

During 2000, students are receiving tuition in violin, guitar, drums, flute, saxophone and recorder.  Instruction is provided by either DETE (Department of Education Training and Employment) staff or private instructors.
At present the following instructors work in our school:-

In addition to an extensive instrumental music programme, the school offers students the opportunity to be involved in choral activities through our Junior School Choir (Years 3-5) trained by Junior Primary Principal, Di Neill and the Senior School Choir (Years 6-7) trained by Year 6 Teacher, Barb Williams. Both choirs provide one of the highlights of our Music Nights.

This year, two groups performed in German.  Shown above is a Year 6 group performing, Paule Puhmanns Paddleboat.  At right: Years 3-4 students perform a German action song, "Kopf, Schulter und Fuß."
