Our Student Representative Council is known as Kookaburra Council.  A student, elected from each class, attends Kookaburra Council meetings each fortnight under the guidance of staff members, Meridith Gabb and Margaret Kellett.  Each student representative serves two school terms on Council.  At Kookaburra Council meetings, students discuss issues raised at class meetings and make recommendations for consideration by staff and School Governing Council.

In addition to being a forum for student ideas, Kookaburra Council also organizes fun activities for students, including regular student discos and the very popular Casual Days. This year several charities will once again be supported by the activities of Kookaburra Council.

Over the years, many hundreds of dollars have been donated to organizations such as:-
                 The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation
                 The Anti-Cancer Foundation
                 The Salvation Army

Messages from our Student Leaders

"My name is Travis Gordon and I have been appointed chairperson of Kookaburra Council 2003.  My job involves running meetings, organizing discos, greeting guests and speaking at assemblies.  My goal this year is for students to improve in all areas through Kookaburra Council."

2003 Chairperson, Travis Gordon

"Hi!  My name is Nicki Hein.  I am Kookaburra Council's secretary.  My job is to record the minutes of the meeting and type them up on a Word document.  The Kookaburra Council reps. read them at the meetings.  I basically help organize everything.  I hope we do some good things this year."

2003 Secretary, Nicki Hein

"Hi!  My name is Sarah Lapere and I've been appointed as the Kookaburra Council’s treasurer for 2003.  I keep a record of how much money the school raises throughout the year.  I also prepare a report for the Kookaburra Council meetings every fortnight.  My goal for this year is for students to have a say in improving the school."

2003 Treasurer, Sarah Lapiere

"My name is Alex Mackenzie.  I have been chosen for the position of fundraising manager for Kookaburra Council.  My job is to find charities for us to decide on which ones to support.  I also help to organize days to have discos, Casual Days and Crazy Days.  I also find information on the charities and bring this to Kookaburra Council.  I will benefit from this position because I will learn to organize my time better and improve my computer skills."

2003 Fundraising Leader, Alex MacKenzie

"Kookaburra Council continues to be a very successful means by which students at this school can influence school decisions and directions. Last year, some of the major activities which students contributed funds towards were: The Edible Garden Project, Operation Christmas Box, Fireworks at our Annual Christmas Evening, secure Bike enclosure.

On many other issues, students have had a strong voice through Kookaburra Council and we look forward to this year's leadership team and the class representatives all contributing toward further improvements in our wonderful school"

Junior Primary Principal, Margaret Kellett

"Kookaburra Council is our Student Representative Council which is a very important aspect of a democratic school such as ours, where we value the contributions and decision making of students. Kookaburra Council is made up from an elected student representative from each class so our meetings involve students from Reception to Year 7.

Through regular class meetings and via their class representatives, each student in our school can make a valued contribution to the management of our school, and instigate changes that are important to them.  I am very pleased to be working with the students on Kookaburra Council and also the Management Team in 2002."

Staff Representative, Meridith Gabb
