Late last year, Happy Valley School was successful in receiving a Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Grant of $60 000.

The grant money will enable the school to establish areas for a "teaching" kitchen and a "teaching" garden. Plans for both these areas are being drawn up at the moment and we will share these with the community once they have been finalised. 

As a school we are of the view that if the "growing" and "cooking" experiences are to be worthwhile, and lasting, then the project needs to be a real School-Community partnership. Consequently we will be seeking your feedback, soon, on the level of involvement and participation that you would like.

The SAKG program has a State-wide Coordinator, Karen Duance, based at Elizabeth Downs Primary School whose tasks include guiding SAKG schools through the beginning stages.
