PUPIL FREE DAY REMINDER

There is a Pupil Free Day on Tuesday June 13th, immediately after the long weekend. Staff will be participating in Training and Development. OSHC will be open for those requiring it.

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Thank you to all of our parents who have or still will be attending this opportunity to talk with teachers about your child's progress. It is often hard to leave the warmth of your homes in such chilly weather. Your attendance strongly confirms our partnership in working for the best outcomes for your child.

Thank you also to our teachers for the conscientious way that they have reported to parents and the preparation for the interviews.

YARD BEHAVIOUR

As part of ensuring a consistent, whole school approach to behaviour management, staff clarified a number of issues concerning yard behaviour at our pupil free day at the beginning of term. These were areas we felt to be important for consistency and the safety and well being of all. These have been followed up with students in classes, at assembly, by teachers on duty and in the yard.

The areas we are focussing on this term are:
Out of bounds:
  • No students to be inside buildings without adult supervision
  • No students to climb trees
Bells at end of lunch/recess:
  • These are an instruction to STOP play and move to your classroom
Hard play areas:
  • Ball games -- no kicking before school
  • WALK on pavers
Oval:
  • NO FOOD
JP/Primary play equipment:
  • No chasey games on, around, under this equipment
  • No eating
  • JP equipment -- R-2 students only including before and after school
  • PR equipment -- Yr 3-7 students only including before and after school
Bikes, scooters, skateboards, roller blades, etc.:
  • When on school grounds children are to be OFF and walking
Jewellery:
  • Watches, sleepers, studs only
Makeup:
  • Not appropriate at school

We hope that we can all work together to give a clear and consistent message to students for the safety and wellbeing of all concerned.

FORUMS

The children in Years 3 -- 7 had their first forum meetings this week on Tuesday. We have 15 forum groups offering a wide range of choices. Most groups have about 12 -- 15 students, which we hope, will enable greater participation. The task of allocating students to one of their choices was a challenge, but, with some negotiation, we got there!

JUNIOR KOOKABURRA COUNCIL

Our Junior Primary Kookaburra Council met for the first time two weeks ago. Congratulations to the reps -- Jackson Millington and Jamie Phelan (Miss Strachan), Sasha Rankine and Thomas Walden (Mrs Johnson/ Mrs Lancaster), Caleb Whetton and Alicia Rawson (Mrs Saunders), Charli Wright and Max Reynolds (Mrs Higgins) and Lachlan Perry and Chane Jacobs (Mrs Bailey). At our next meeting we will talk about running meetings.

Prizes
A huge "Thank You" to parents who have already sent or offered prizes for our Quiz Night. We are still looking for donations of prizes to be used for our Quiz Night.  We are especially looking for prizes to be donated from families with a business or those with contacts, who may be able to assist us in finding these prizes.  They could be goods or vouchers. We are also seeking support from local businesses.  Any items, which we could use, would be greatly appreciated.  Please let us know if you can help, by returning the tear-off slip at the end of the newsletter, letting us know if you are able to donate and what your donation will be.

We are particularly looking for bottles of wine to use for our silent auction. Please let us know if you can help!

Entertainment Books
Our Entertainment Books are selling well. We have just a couple left -- see Andrea at the Front Office if you would like one.

ASSEMBLIES

It was wonderful to see so many parents at this week's Junior Primary assembly on Tuesday. As there are so many adults in the school at one time, we do ask that you sign in and out please. As the assembly runs into lunchtime, it is very difficult for teachers on duty, who may not recognise parents or grandparents in the yard. As our duty of care means that we need to know who is at the school at any one time, a quick trip to the office to sign in and out would be much appreciated.

PRINCIPAL'S AWARDS

Congratulations to the following students who have received Principal's Awards, for demonstrating our school values.  They are Ashleigh Webster-Marr, Michaela Willshire, Daniel Rogers and Tally Cox.

JUNIOR PRIMARY AWARDS

At our Junior Primary assembly last week, the following children received Program Achieve awards -- Jacob Anderson, Breanna Trueman, Blake Stopp, Stewart Mayne, Bailey Furniss, Lachlan Fawcett, Isabel Vardas, Ronan Wright, Sharni Bird, Tayla Rogers, Maddison Leach, Tyson Berry, Lydia Ellacott, Elenore Kneebone and Chane Jacobs. Well done to these people!

MUSIC NIGHT

Again we had a great Music Night last Thursday. A big thank you to Barb Williams for all her hard work in preparing for the evening. Thanks also to the music teachers and to the students for their wonderful efforts, as well as to the parents and families who came to support their children on the night.

NURSING HOME CAR PARK

Personnel from the Nursing Home have reminded us that their car park is not one to be used for school purposes. The "Lifestyle Village" complex owns the car park and as such the nursing home has no legal cover for this area and will not be held liable for any incidents. We would also assume that the village is not liable for any unauthorised parking

HOW MANY BOOKS HAVE YOU READ?

           Attention to all MS
          Readathon readers!!
Thank you so much to the special students who are helping to raise money for people living with Multiple Sclerosis! It is almost time for

you to stop your MS Readathon reading and collect your sponsorship money from family and friends.

What's New?
MS Readathon has posted mum or dad a letter telling them how to send us your money so that we can give you the cool rewards you have earned. If they didn't receive a letter or you need a new receipt book, you can call our NSW office on 1300 677 323.
You can also find all the latest MS Readathon news at www.msreadathon.org.au.

When does MS Readathon finish?
If you started reading on May 3 then your reading time finishes on June 7. Did you start reading after May 3? Just count five weeks from the day you first started reading and that is when your MS Readathon finishes.

When does money need to be sent in by?
We would like everyone to get his or her money in to us by August 16th so you have a few weeks to keep fundraising after your reading date finishes! Don't forget to post us your reading and sponsor lists as well as your receipt book. It will take us a few weeks to get your rewards to you so please be very patient- Bosko will be very busy!

Even though MS Readathon time is almost up, remember to always keep those books open- reading is lots of fun! Thank you once again for your wonderful support!
